29th Queensland Wine Awards 2012
Wine industry persons and supporters of the Queensland wine industry gathered at 66 on Ernest, South Bank Institute of Technology in Brisbane to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of individuals and wineries. Presentations were made for champion wines in various categories. Guests were treated to a delicious three course dinner complemented with -of course – fabulous Queensland wine.
” The Wine Awards is not just about the wines; it’s also about the people and the wine businesses that work so hard to produce quality grapes and wines and to provide quality service and experiences for wine consumers.” said Jim Barnes, President of the Queensland Wine Industry Association. He went on to say “The Queensland Wine Industry Association is committed to conducting a bigger and better Queensland Wine Awards in 2013″.
The previous day about 200 wines from various Queenslnd wine regions were judged by panels of experienced judges- including David O’Leary (O’Leary Walker Wines), Adam Clay (Penfolds), Tony Hooper (Orlando Wines) and Wendy Cameron (Brown Brothers). These interstate judges have had vast experience at wine shows throughout Australia.
Adam Clay (Penfolds) commented ” The gold medals in this show would hold their own at any capital city show – against the finest in Australia”
